Official Results Of The Iraqi Provincial Elections Announced

The official results of the Iraqi provincial elections are now announced by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC). These preliminary results stated that the Kurdistan Alliance List came in second place in both Diyala and Nineveh.
-Nineveh Brotherhood List (Kurdish List) has received 25.5% of the votes in Nineveh province and Kurdistan Alliance list has won 17.2% of the votes in Diyala province, - stated IHEC in Baghdad.
These results give the Kurdish parties powerful roles as the wining parties have to make coalitions with them to be able to rule the regions. At the same it’s a good step forward to strengthen the constitution so that article 140 can be implemented. The last mentioned article is part of the Iraqi constitution which is about a referendum to bring back Kurdish regions, so that they can be administered by the Kurdistan Regional Government rather than the central Iraqi Government.
