King Mummy Found In Eastern Kurdistan

Sine, East Kurdistan(Iranian Kurdistan), — , A prehistoric burial ground has been discovered near the Kurdish city of Sanandaj, located in the Iran's western Kurdistan Province.

The 3,000 year-old cemetery,which was found during a road construction project. The spot is located 500 meters from where previously an ancient mound of Zagros was found.

According to Kurdistan's provincial cultural heritage office, so far five squat burials have been found in the cemetery along with spears, bronze bracelets and earthenware, but the most amazing object was the the king mumie which was discovered with his golden crown and clothing.

Excavations, which started four days ago at the site, will continue for another week.

Iran's Kurdistan Province contains 218 natural,cultural, historical and religious sites including numerous historical villages.

Ancient bridges, the Safavid Asef Divan monument and the Khosrowabad structure are among Kurdistan's many tourist attractions.

It includes the greater parts of West Azerbaijan province, Kurdistan Province, Kermanshah Province, and Ilam Province.

Kurds form the majority of the population of this region with an estimated population of 12 million. The region is the eastern part of the greater cultural-geographical area called Kurdistan.
