Kurds Excited by Biden’s Proposal for Kurdistan

Kurdistannetwork - November 7, 2008
The Kurdistan Regional Government congratulates Senators Barack Obama and Joseph Biden on their election as the next President and Vice President of the United States. In Statement by the KRG it was said - We join America and nations and people from around the world in hailing this historic election.
According to Peter W. Galbraith, a former United States ambassador to Croatia and the author of The End of Iraq, Joseph Biden the New Vice President supports a plan for Iraq to become a loose confederation of three regions — a Kurdish area in the north, a Shiite region in the south and a Sunni enclave in the center — with the national government in Baghdad having few powers other than to manage the equitable distribution of oil revenues.
This solution is welcomed by all parts of Kurdistan and the sooner this is implemented the better. There is no better alternative than partition and a reconstructed and a strong united Iraq is not a realistic option.
